In Memory

Kay Storer (Lamaitis)

Kay Storer (Lamaitis)

Kay Lamaitis, age 68, of Cumming, GA went home to be with her Lord and Savior and reunited with her husband, Ralph, Sunday, September 8, 2019.

Born in Hornell, New York, in 1951, she was the youngest daughter of the late Clara (Richards) and Clarence Storer. Kay spent many years in and around Chittenango, New York, and moved to Cumming in 1992. She spent 20 years in the grocery business working for both Ingles Supermarkets and Winn Dixie; but her true passions were gardening, antiques, and most of all, her grandkids.

She is survived by her two children, Sarah (Branon) Hammond and Josh (Erin) Lamaitis of Cumming; five grandchildren, Jackson, Addison, Weston Hammond, Emerson and Everett Lamaitis; her sisters and brothers, Laura Thayer, Sonny (Jackie) Storer, Alan (Sherry) Storer, Karen (Ron) Minor; and numerous nieces and nephews.

So sad to hear the news of Kay's passing. It wasn't long ago she announced that she had Ovarian Cancer which is terrible since I lost my former Mother-in-law from the same form.

On another note, not sure if many remembered Gary Paro. He grew up next door to our farm along with John Kline. John mentioned at the recent reunion that  Gary died as well. I don't see Gary's name amongst our classmates.

Kay was a dear heart, as you said, Randy.  She wrote me about a year and a half ago expressing thanks for the work that the oncology researchers at my employer do to improve the lives of cancer patients. I was touched that, despite all of her challenges with battling cancer, she would take the time to reach out with thanks.  May she rest in peace now that she is in the company of God and heaven. My heartfelt sympathy to all of her family and friends.
